From
one of our customers:
“In
route to shopping yesterday, I made a point of stopping by the Kactus
for a burrito and a root beer. I sat at the corner table near the
water pitcher and lemon slices for more than an hour; eating my
food, reading my magazine clippings and watching the people come
and go. I made an interesting discovery. Basking in the ambiance
of the Kool Kactus during the pre dinner rush is more relaxing than
a day on the beach in Cancun.
Salesmen
and reps, their sunglasses suspended on nylon cords and neoprene
Croakies came in to order combination plates. The fire department
sent a mammoth red hook and ladder truck with a captain, a fire
fighter and an EMT to pick up one box of take out. The long haired
delivery truck driver asked for a refill on his soda; ‘Just
a sip’ he said, simultaneously pushing some coins across the
counter. The girl with the tattoo on her arm wasn’t sure she
was ordering the right kind of chili and the couple from Kansas
wanted fried ice cream.
Obviously
different in their approach and needs, every customer that stepped
up to the counter received the full Kool Kactus treatment –
a friendly smile, pleasant chit chat, a great menu selection and
sincere courtesy. Simple delights often thought not to exist in
Southern California. All wonderfully delicious on several levels.
Carole,
you’ve created something very special. The Kool Kactus is
what ‘grabbing some lunch’ or ‘stopping by for
a bite’ should be; simple, warm, healthy and delicious. Thank
you.”
